Pat Lowe, Jimmy Pike – yinti desert child
Stories told by Jimmy Pike about his childhood in the great Sandy Desert are the basis for this book centered around a fictional Walmajarri boy, Yinti. In common with traditional tales in other cultures, some of the stories include descriptions of violence, wrong-doing and punishment, but these are mainly cautionary tales, and are accurate reflections of the stories Yinti would have been told. The language throughout is realistic and easy to read, with the cadences and rhythms of real conversation and storytelling.
