> Helen Flockhart - Back to the Garden: 10 September – 26 September 2009 AT Charlotte Street, London
Helen Flockhart’s rich, meticulously crafted paintings are charged with
an averting power. It is a power that derives not merely from the
extraordinarily detailed execution of each work, but also from the
idiosyncratic imagery that the artist employs.
Flockhart’s paintings spring from the artist’s inner vision, she maintains, “they are sensed as much as seen.” Her visions inhabit a world – partly domestic, partly dream – at once familiar and disconcerting, and their relationship with this environment remains subtly out of balance.
