The Gilchrist-Fisher Award is a biennial prize open to artists under the age of 30 before January 2012 whose work deals with the broad theme of landscape. A shortlist of six finalists will be selected in June to produce work for an exhibition early in the following year at the Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery in London when the winner and runner-up will be decided. A first prize of £3000 will be awarded, and a second prize of £1000.
In 2012, we will be celebrating the Award’s 21st anniversary by including works from previous winners in the final show. The parameters of the Award have been extended beyond painting to include all aspects of landscape art, excluding video and installation for practical reasons. We are looking forward to the impact this will have on this year’s entry.
The judges for the Gilchrist-Fisher Award 2012 are Stephen Chambers RA, Matthew Collings, writer and critic, Harry Cory-Wright, landscape photographer and Elizabeth Magill, landscape painter.
Previous winners of the Gilchrist-Fisher Award include Peter Doig, Alasdair Wallace, Alexander Mackenzie, Ruth Brownlee and Mark Thompson. The deadline for entry is 1st June 2011.
