Colin Hampden-White - Facing East: 23 February – 3 March 2009 AT Charlotte Street, London
"The exhibition focuses primarily on two of my recent collections. Last year I was asked
to undertake a lottery-funded project to produce a photographic portrait of the community
currently living in Bromley by Bow in the run-up to the Olympics, to celebrate the
heritage of this diverse community, and focus on the history of migration.
The second project is ongoing, but you may have seen media coverage over the last few
months of an artist’s collective squatting multi-million pound empty buildings in
Mayfair. I have been privileged to be allowed unrivalled access to their work and have
produced an intimate portrayal of their life and work. Images from some of my other
private projects will also be displayed."
