Maria Morrow

Artist Statement

Maria Morrow a housewife and Elvis fanatic from Brighton was dancing around her kitchen one morning to the Elvis song 'Hunka Hunka Burning Love' on the radio whilst cooking some toast under the grill. She was really getting into the groove and totally forgot about her toast. In her excitement she didn't remember the toast until the song had played right through. A whiff of burning brought her breakfast back to mind and she sped across the kitchen to the grill, pulled the grill tray out and discovered two pieces of toast with the face of Elvis clearly burnt onto them. It was a miracle and she knew it. It was the first sign of her calling, the awaited acknowledgement of her years of devotion to Elvis. The following morning the miracle occurred again. Maria Morrow knew then that she had been chosen as the medium through God and the toast. At least once a week now Elvis' face greets her on her morning toast. She carefully preserves each piece, framing it behind glass to share the miracle of the King with the world.
