Artist Statement
David Frazer is an Australian artist living in Melbourne who works with wood engraving, painting, etching, lithography, lino and bronze. A narrative runs through his work portraying the story of the lonely rural misfit dreaming
of being somewhere else and being someone more interesting. Dreaming of love and home and dreaming of burning it all down and escaping. He's Mr Vertigo, wanting fame and success, (to be popular really), wanting to fly but afraid of heights. Frazers work is accessible, sometimes melancholic and sometimes humorous. Frazer's prints, paintings and limited artist books are collected by most of Australia's major public galleries and Libraries and is fast becoming one of Australia's favorite artists. In 2007 he was the major prizewinner of the 1st International Print Biennial in Guanlan China.
